How to Rent A Cottage
If you have rented before, please note that our system has changed.
Each cottage that rents has a rental availability calendar on their page.
As a renter, if you are interested in a specific cottage, then go to their page and search to see what weeks or times are available.
If you want a specific time – a week in the summer for example – then you may have to search a couple of cottage pages until you find one with the availability at the time you have in mind.
Once you have found a cottage with a time you want, you will fill out the form with your personal information that will be sent to the cottage owner. They will be back in touch with you to confirm the rental with a rental agreement and a payment system.
If you do not hear back from the owner within a week, then you may contact us at oxbowclub@yahoo.com for assistance.

Smoking Policy
In Ontario there is a strict no-smoking law. It seems to have become the norm for people to smoke outside of buildings because of this. At Oxbow LCC one thing that is important to us is to not interfere with the enjoyment of the property by others. Second hand smoke would be one of those things that could interfere with someone’s enjoyment.
In order to achieve this goal, the following are expectations for people smoking on property:
- In individual cottages smoking would be permitted by the member with percentage interest.
- In the Tamarack units, smoking out of doors would be allowed outside, away from the building so as not to interfere with people’s enjoyment.
- In common areas such as at the Lodge, at the picnic tables or at the dock, smoking would be permitted at a distance so as not to interfere with people’s enjoyment.
- In all cases it is imperative that smokers leave no trace of cigarettes on the property
Dog Policy
We do allow dogs, as we are dog owners ourselves and understand the enjoyment and attachment we have to our four legged friends. However, dogs will be dogs, especially in strange places and we therefore have the following policies that must be adhered to, in order that we can accommodate our canine friends;
- All dogs owned by Oxbow owners are expected to be well behaved and in control. However, since these dogs do live on the land they will be permitted to be off leash as long as they are well behaved. If there is a concern with a members’ dog then the member is expected to keep their dog on a leash.
- Dogs that are visiting with cottage owners may be off leash as long as the cottage owner is on the property and is responsible for the dog. If the visitor dog becomes a problem, then the owner will be notified and the dog must then be put on a leash whenever it is outside.
- Guests that are renting are expected to keep dogs on leash whenever they are outside. The dog can be off leash while playing in the water.
- The issue of safety is important. If anyone feels unsafe around any dog then they should address this concern with the dog owner. If the matter is not resolved then the concern should be raised with a cottage owner on the property. If the issue is still not resolved, then it must be addressed by the board.
- No dog play on the dock. Dog play should occur from the shoreline, away from people and children.
- All dog owners are expected to scoop any poop they see. Marker sticks will be provided in various locations on the property for non-dog owners to mark the poop to be scooped. Bags will also be made available around the property.
- There will be a limit of two dogs per cottage for renters and owners alike at any given time.
Renters’ Personal Watercraft and Dock Use
Renters are welcome to bring their own boats to OLCC and to use them on Oxbow Lake.
Renters are responsible for their own licences (where required) and on-board safety equipment, and for ensuring others’ safety (e.g. children on the property). Water safety rules are enforced by the Ontario Provincial Police marine unit.
OLCC is located on the lake narrows, which is a no-wake zone by law. The ends of the zone are marked with buoys maintained by the Oxbow Lake Association. Please respect the zone and everyone’s safe enjoyment of our swimming area!
There is a free public boat launch on West Oxbow Lake Road, just south of the property. Due to limited OLCC dock space, when not in use renters’ motor boats/jet skis must be pulled out at the public launch. They may be kept on their trailers in the parking area next to the Lodge building. Renters’ canoes and kayaks must be pulled out at our beach and returned to their cottage or vehicle when not in use.
OLCC is not responsible for any damage or loss related to renters’ personal watercraft.
